My Values for Hikurangi-Coastal
The Whangarei District is made up of unique rural and coastal communities, each with its own strengths and challenges.
As your representative on Council, I’m committed to listening, acting, and delivering on the things that matter most to us – from strong infrastructure to protecting our whenua and moana. These values guide every decision I make and every conversation I have on your behalf.

Getting the Basics Right
Clean water, safe roads, and reliable infrastructure are essentials, not extras.
In Hikurangi-Coastal and across the Whangarei District, we rely on these basics every day. I’ll push for timely maintenance, smarter spending, and getting jobs done right the first time – fixing roads before they’re unsafe, keeping water systems sound, and caring for public spaces. When the essentials are looked after, communities can focus on growing, connecting, and thriving.

Using Our Rates Wisely
Every rates dollar should be spent with purpose and care.
With the cost of living climbing, ratepayers deserve to see real value for every cent contributed. I’ll ask the hard questions, look for efficiencies, and explore smarter ways to fund our services. Constant rate hikes aren’t the answer – innovation, planning, and accountability are.

Protecting Our Whenua and Moana
Northland’s environment is our taonga – we must protect it for the future.
From our coastlines and harbours to rivers and native bush, these places sustain and inspire us. I’ll champion sustainable land use, strong environmental protections, and thoughtful planning so our whenua and moana remain healthy for the next generation.

Backing Community-Led Solutions
The best ideas often come from those on the ground.
Local clubs, marae, hauora services, and volunteer groups know what works. Council should be backing them with funding, resources, and recognition. I’ll support grassroots initiatives that keep our communities strong and connected.

Creating Connected, Thriving Communities
Everyone should feel they belong in the Whangarei District.
Whether it’s safer play spaces, better transport, or opportunities for rangatahi to grow, I’ll work to build places where people feel welcome. That means listening to local voices, investing in gathering spaces, and ensuring no one is left out or forgotten.
